Long Arm Cast

This cast is used to immobilize the lower part of the upper arm (lower part of the humerus), elbow, and upper part of the forearm (proximal forearm). 

Fractures: Distal Humerus (Lower Part of The Upper Arm) Fractures, Elbow Fractures, High Forearm Fractures

Muenster Cast

This is considered a “high” short arm cast. This cast is used to immobilize the forearm and wrist. It usually extends from the elbow to the wrist or hand. It allows for partial elbow bending and straightening but limits the ability for the elbow to twist or turn.

Fractures: Distal Radius Fractures, Distal Ulna Fractures, Wrist Fractures

Short Arm Cast

This cast is used to immobilize the lower (distal) part of the forearm and wrist. It usually extends from the forearm to the wrist or hand.

Fractures: Distal Radius Fractures, Distal Ulna Fractures, Wrist Fractures

Thumb Spica Cast

This cast immobilizes the thumb. It starts at the forearm and ends at the level of the thumb.

Fractures: Thumb Metacarpal and Phalangeal Fractures, Scaphoid Fractures, Radial Styloid Fractures 

Ulnar Gutter Cast

This cast is used to immobilize the small finger side part of the forearm, wrist, hand, or fingers. It usually extends from the forearm to the hand or fingers.

Fractures: Carpometacarpal Dislocations, Metacarpal Fractures, Boxers Fractures, Ring Finger and Small Finger Fractures

Radial Gutter Cast

This cast is used to immobilize the index finger side part of the forearm, wrist, hand, or fingers. It usually extends from the forearm to the hand or fingers.

Fractures: Carpometacarpal Dislocations, Metacarpal Fractures, Index Finger And Middle Finger Fractures
