Almonds (and Other Nuts)

Almonds and other nuts provide magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, protein, and healthy fats that support bone structure. Regular nut intake is associated with improved bone density and aligns with dietary patterns linked to lower fracture risk.

Bone healing requires adequate magnesium to activate vitamin D and support mineral deposition. Nuts help supply this often-overlooked mineral while also contributing protein and calcium needed to rebuild strong bone tissue.

Almonds, along with other nuts such as walnuts, pistachios, and cashews, support bone healing through their dense mineral and protein content. Magnesium is a standout nutrient in almonds, playing a critical role in bone mineralization and vitamin D activation; without sufficient magnesium, calcium cannot be effectively incorporated into bone. Nuts also provide calcium and phosphorus, which form the mineral backbone of bone, and protein to support collagen matrix formation during fracture repair. In addition, the unsaturated fats and polyphenols in nuts may help reduce low-grade inflammation that can interfere with bone remodeling.
