Berries (Blueberries & Strawberries)

Berries are rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols that support antioxidant defenses and help down-regulate inflammatory pathways. Human trials associate regular berry intake with lower CRP levels and improvements in pain and inflammatory markers.

Anthocyanin-rich berries counter oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling. Regular intake supports healthier immune balance and may reduce pain and inflammatory burden in chronic inflammatory states.

Berries such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, and cherries are rich in anthocyanins that influence inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB. A meta-analysis of 44 trials linked berry-rich diets to lower CRP levels, while strawberry-specific interventions reduced CRP by approximately 0.6 mg/L. In obese adults with knee osteoarthritis, daily strawberry intake reduced IL-6 and pain. Fresh and frozen berries offer similar benefits and can be added to meals or snacks. Pairing berries with protein or fats may help manage glycemic impact.
