Ankle Fracture

We assess ankle alignment and stability to choose immobilization vs surgical fixation and plan safe return to weight bearing.

Boot/cast with non‑ or partial‑weight bearing; elevation/ice; DVT precautions as indicated.

Healing ~6–12 weeks; balance/strength return with guided rehab.

Walking Boot; Physical Therapy; Cast Care

Breaks of one or more ankle bones; stability guides casting vs surgery.

Surgical fixation when unstable or malaligned.

Pain, swelling, trouble walking, bruising; possible deformity.

Increasing pain, numb toes, color change, calf pain—seek care.
