On-Site Laboratory Draws

Blood tests measure cells, chemicals, proteins and other substances in your blood and are one of the most common lab tests. They play a critical role in diagnosing diseases, monitoring chronic conditions like diabetes or high cholesterol, checking organ function and detecting bleeding or clotting disorders. During a venipuncture, a trained phlebotomist inserts a small needle into a vein—usually in your arm—to collect a sample into a vial. You may feel a brief sting when the needle goes in or out, and the procedure takes less than five minutes. Some tests require fasting or temporary medication adjustments; our team will provide instructions. On-site lab services mean you can get blood work done quickly and conveniently as part of your visit, and your provider can review results with you sooner.

Blood tests are among the most important diagnostic tools in medicine. They help diagnose diseases and conditions, monitor chronic illnesses like diabetes or high cholesterol, evaluate the function of organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart and thyroid, determine if treatments are working, detect bleeding or clotting disorders, and assess the immune system’s ability to fight infections.

Complete blood count (measuring red and white blood cells, platelets and hemoglobin); Basic metabolic panel (electrolytes, glucose, calcium); Enzyme tests like troponin or creatine kinase to check for heart damage; Cholesterol and triglyceride levels; Blood clotting factors; Markers of inflammation or infection; Hormone levels; Vitamins and minerals; and many other analytes. Blood work can detect anemia, infection, liver or kidney dysfunction, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart damage, blood clotting disorders and more.

During venipuncture, a phlebotomist will clean the area (usually inside your elbow), insert a small needle into a vein and collect blood into vials. You may feel a brief sting or pressure when the needle goes in or out, but the procedure typically takes less than five minutes. For most blood tests you do not need to fast or do anything special, though some tests may require avoiding food or certain medications. Afterward you can resume normal activities; any bruising or soreness at the puncture site usually resolves quickly.
