Oxalate-Rich Vegetables (Spinach)

Oxalate-rich vegetables bind calcium and reduce its absorption, limiting availability for bone repair.

Bone healing depends on calcium absorption, not just intake. Oxalates reduce usable calcium.

Oxalate-rich vegetables such as spinach contain compounds that bind calcium in the gut, forming insoluble complexes that cannot be absorbed. Although these foods are nutritious, their calcium is poorly bioavailable. When consumed with calcium-rich foods, oxalates can reduce overall calcium absorption. During bone healing, relying on low-oxalate calcium sources improves mineral availability.
