Added Sugars
Added sugars—especially fructose—drive hepatic fat production and oxidative stress, increasing inflammatory cytokines in a dose-dependent manner.
Excess sugar intake amplifies inflammatory signaling and cardiometabolic risk.
Added sugars found in soda, candy, desserts, and syrups promote fatty liver changes and cytokine release. Strong evidence links higher intake to elevated CRP. Liquid sugars are particularly inflammatory due to lack of satiety.
