Metacarpal (Hand) Fracture

Treatment depends on fracture pattern and finger alignment. We protect the hand, monitor rotation/angulation, and restore function with therapy.

Ulnar gutter or protective splint/cast, early finger motion as allowed.

Heals ~4–6 weeks; grip strength returns with therapy.

Bracing & Splints; Physical Therapy; Cast Care

Break of the hand bones; many heal well with splinting and buddy taping.

Surgery when angulation/rotation unacceptable or multiple fractures.

Hand pain/swelling after impact, finger malrotation or knuckle flattening.

Increasing numbness, severe swelling, cast pressure—call us.
