Wrist (Distal Radius) Fracture

After confirming alignment on X‑rays, many distal radius fractures can be immobilized with a cast or splint. We monitor for swelling and nerve symptoms and begin motion as healing allows.

Closed reduction if displaced, cast/splint 4–6 weeks, finger motion encouraged, elevation/ice, cast care instructions.

Bone heals ~6–8 weeks; strength/ROM improve over 2–3 months.

Bracing & Splints; Physical Therapy; Cast Care

Common wrist break from a fall—often treated with reduction and casting.

Surgery if unstable or poorly aligned (plates/screws).

Immediate pain, swelling, tenderness, decreased wrist motion, possible deformity.

Severe pain, numbness/tingling, bluish fingers, fever, cast too tight—call us.
